1.
She put her money in her pocket thirteen dollars fifty cents Not enough to put a turkey on the table not enough to pay the rent She passed the goodwill on the corner of Lamar and fourteenth street She thought about those little ones and how she never seemed to have enough to warm Those cold cold feet cold cold feet Tomorrow’s Christmas morning she wishes she could be around to see their smiles as they are opening the presents that she got at lost and found But they won’t eat unless she’s working trying her best to make ends meet And though she takes those extra shifts there never seems to be enough to warm Those cold cold feet cold cold feet She puts a blanket on her baby She puts her money in a jar Maybe one day there’ll be enough to buy herself a car And they can leave this place behind them They can leave this poor old street Go somewhere south where winter’s milder And she doesn’t have to work so hard to warm those cold cold feet cold cold feet

about

In her 2015 yearly Christmas single, Swedish Americana songstress Sofia Talvik takes on Bruce Springsteen, Jason Isbell and all the other men singing about the working man.
"It's time to sing about the working woman" Talvik says.
The song is about a hard working single mother the day before Christmas, and her thoughts and longings about a better life for herself and her kids, trying to make the best of what she has.

Swedish folk meets Nashville in this new single which features a haunting violin played by Hanna Ekström and bright guitars by Sofia Talvik.
Talvik who releases a Christmas single every year has made it her trademark to sing about the less cheery part of the holiday season.
"This is my tribute to all hard working women out there", Talvik says.

Merry Christmas!

Sofia Talvik Gothenburg, Sweden

Unmistakably Nordic in flavor, Sofia Talvik somehow still conforms to American interpretations of her own original music, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy, creating a special niche of folk music that has been described as neo-folk. She is a veteran performer with 8 original full length albums as well as numerous EPs, singles and tours behind her. ... more
